Well I learned alot this week. Out of the five perspectives presented, I really enjoyed Into a new world of librarianship the most. It reminded us as librarians that we are here for our users. We need to find out what they need and provide it not tell them what we want to do for them. Of course, we will begin this process very soon when we start the planning process of which I am very excited!
I really like the potential of Del.icio.us. I have sites bookmarked on every computer I use. However, I do not have all of them at every computer. Some time in the future (after school), I plan to organize all my sites using a Del.icio.us account. This will allow me to access them no matter where I am at. I also think this would be yet another great Readers Advisory tool.
Finally, I have played around with the tagging concept but not totally sold on it. However, I think it would be great if there was a way that staff and customers could add tags to our collection. The tags could direct users to other material that they may enjoy. Hopefully, the new ILS system will allow us to do different things like this.
